REWIIIND...
In August 2015 I started working with Freedom Project to create a fashion label that aims to prevent young people, specifically women, being exploited by offering training, support & sustainable employment opportunities.
It has been one big learning curve and an intense learning process. Through volunteering, I have learnt how Ghana is rich in natural resources which are exploited by international corporates & how as a result many people in rural or deprived areas are also exploited.
People trafficking, especially of minors & young women, is increasing all over Ghana. They are trafficked to meet the ever increasing demand for cheap labor (in the gold mining, cocoa farming & the fishing industries), illegal marriages, domestic slavery & commercial sexual exploitation. Poverty is the most obvious factor that leads to a spread of trafficking.
I have also learnt about the concept of an Aid Trap. The idea of how giving aid to a community doesn't actually elevate poverty long term but in actual fact creates a codependency based on short term fixes.
So in November, FAWOHODIE was launched at That Thing (Shout outs to you for your amazing support!) The launch was great & had loads of positive feedback on the concept of the brand. After the glitz of the launch settled we realised there were quality & fit issues but the was an overwhelming demand for a brand inspired by Africa with our concept.
More motivated! Back to the drawing board it was to evaluate how FAWOHODIE could be sustainable & deliver on our aim.

TODAY!!
A whole lot better & a few identity crisis' later…We are going to relaunch FAWOHODIE!!
We have raised funds to develop Fawohodie into a viable business. I just need to raise the money to get to Ghana to meet with the amazing organisations we have connected with to set up the supply chain and get production started!
Keep your eyes peeled for the beauty that will unravel!
Thanks to everyone for you support
Big love
