Story
Welcome to my Crowd funding page. With great honour I have been chosen to represent my country Great Britain in the sport of Outrigger canoeing. I will be heading out to Tahiti in July for World Sprint 2018 IVF Va’a World Championships.
At current we are self-funded and that’s where you beautiful people come in. The event will cost roughly £2500 and I am hoping to raise money towards the cost of flying and accommodation.
“Outrigger canoeing as the sport we see today was developed in Tahiti and Hawaii. At the beginning of the 19th Century, Outrigger races became a regular feature during the traditional cultural ‘Heiva’ festival in Tahiti. In Hawaii, Outrigger racing began to emerge at the turn of the 20th Century. Clubs like Hui Nalu and the Outrigger Canoe Club were both founded in 1908 and both still thrive today. Outrigger canoeing is gaining in popularity in England with a number of clubs welcoming new paddlers with a warm “aloha”!” from www.britishcanoeing.org.uk
Outrigger is a fantastic, growing sport and I feel blessed to have found such an amazing Ohana (family). Its an brilliant way of meeting new people and is one of the most welcoming sports I have ever been involved with. If you would like to get involved below are some of the outrigger clubs in the UK.
