Hello my name is Megan Luscombe. I have set up this page to ask for your help so my friends and I who I live with have the opportunity to go on a holiday of a lifetime.

I have Friedreich’s Ataxia which causes progressive damage to my nervous system and manifests in initial symptoms of poor coordination such as gait disturbance. This condition has lead me to having scoliosis which causes my soine to twist and curve to the side. I also have cardiomyopathy which is a term used for diseases of the heart muscle. It affects the body by not pumping blood around the body properly. I use a power chair to get around daily.

I live with my two friends Theas and Beth. Beth suffers from cerebral palsy which affects her dexterity and she also uses a power chair to get around outside of the house. Theas usesa power chair at all times to get around. Her disability affects her mobility on a daily basis. We all met and became friends when we attended the National Star College. We recently moved out into our own home and due to our disabilities we require round the clock care. Our care company is Expeditions Living Ltd and the staff help us in our daily lives to live as independently as possible.

Myself, Beth and Theas have all decided that we would love to go on a holiday together to Tenerife, as it has been a dream of all of ours to swim with dolphins. We have found somewhere there that is accessible to do this. For us to go on holiday we would need to take at least 5 carers with us due to our care needs. This would mean we would need to pay for 5 carers flights, accommodation and for the weeks worth of care from 5 people. As you can imagine this all adds up and it’s become clear that we will not be able to pay for this on our own.

What we would need is help to pay for us to take the staff we need to be safe and get the care we need whilst on holiday and we are asking for your help to do this.
