Immie’s Story

Our beautiful little girl Immie is just 5 years old. Despite her young age, she has already faced more challenges than most people will in a lifetime. Immie lives with Polymicrogyria, drug-resistant epilepsy, cerebral palsy, partial sight loss, and NF2 (Neurofibromatosis Type 2).

In 2022, Immie underwent her first brain tumour surgery to remove a grade 2 meningioma. During her recovery, Oscar’s Charity supported Immie in the most incredible way. They arranged a private occupational therapy assessment to make sure she had the right support when starting preschool and gifted her a booster box when she came home from hospital. They also supported us as parents, always checking in on Immie and our family. Their kindness meant the world to us during such a frightening time.

In 2024, Immie had to undergo an emergency hemispherectomy, a life-saving surgery that disconnected half of her brain. At the time she was having over 300 seizures a day and was very quickly slipping away from us. This surgery saved her life.

Today, Immie is back at school, smiling, and enjoying the life she has fought so incredibly hard for. The surgery has left her with significant physical and cognitive disabilities, but her determination shines through every single day.

Oscar’s Charity has continued to support Immie and recently gifted her a bespoke adapted trike, allowing her to experience the joy of riding a bike again. Seeing her ride with the biggest smile on her face is something we will never forget.

Sadly, Immie is currently living with five tumours caused by NF2, an incredibly rare condition. Without a cure, these tumours along with further tumours will continue to grow and develop throughout her life. This means a future filled with hospital appointments, further surgeries, and chemotherapy. Many people with NF2 also lose their hearing and develop additional physical disabilities, and the condition can significantly shorten life expectancy.

We are raising money to help make a difference.

Half of the funds raised will go to Oscar’s Charity, so they can continue supporting children like Immie and the families who need them most.

The other half will go to NF2 BioSolutions UK, a charity dedicated to funding research to find a cure for NF2.

Please help us support the organisations that have supported Immie, and help fund the research that could one day save her life.

Thank you for helping us fight for our little girl.
