I am participating in an expedition to Ecuador in the summer of 2018 with Camps International. This will be a four-week trip and will include opportunities to carry out community development work and get involved in conservation projects. It will also include a chance to scuba dive with some of the world’s most stunning marine life.

“Camps International” employ local people, with the help of volunteers, to run projects that are designed to improve the living and educational standards of their communities.

This expedition is extremely important to me as I feel it will make me a more independent person, develop my communication skills and allow me to appreciate the diversity of other cultures. I am really looking forward to making a positive impact on the local community, learning new skills, working as part of a team and to trying new foods.

I am excited about my adventure, but I am nervous about being away from my family for such a long time and am worried about all of the creepy crawlies that I might meet especially in the rainforest, hopefully, the spiders won’t be too big!
