Story
Thanks for taking the time to look at my ‘Go Fund Me’ page it means a lot to me.
So why fund me and what is it all about? Well in a nut shell, development……for others and for me. I am both privileged and excited to have an opportunity of a life time that will support a community less fortunate than my own; and provide me with a variety of new and valuable life skills.
So, my mission is to fundraise £2500 to enable me to travel to Cambodia with Camps International in the summer of 2019 with other pupils attending Ilfracombe Academy. Camps International are offering people, like me, the unique opportunity to work with them for 4 weeks during the school summer holidays, oh and not forgetting ……….have some fun and meet some amazing new friends!
To me Camp International is a very worthy organisation that offer practical help to many countries that will not only benefit their people but also their environment for the benefit of the wildlife and ecosystem – some of the many reasons I am happy and grateful to have been given an opportunity to help.
Assuming my fundraising is successful I will be going to visit a country, that from photos looks beautiful, meet its people and experience, for a brief time, their culture. Whilst in Cambodia I really hope I can help build a brighter future for local communities by working with them to improve their infrastructure, build dams and plant trees to help counteract the ongoing issue of deforestation. It will also allow me to help the next generation of children have a good education; by building a kitchen area for a school so they don't have to use one of their valuable classrooms. I believe that every child should be equal and therefore have an education that is comparable to mine. My wish is that by the end of the 4 weeks, as a group, we will have done a lot of good. On a completely personal note I am hoping to have earn my paddy certificate in scuba diving meaning I can dive to a depth of 20m anywhere in the world
So how am I going to raise such a large sum of money; with the help of my friends, family and hopefully you. Friends and I are currently training to compete in 10k and half marathons – something that is completely outside of my comfort zone! Other ideas that we are planning are: sponsored walks in a onesie, bingo nights, car washes and lots lots more. As each activity is completed I will post some photos so that you can share in my journey.
Thank you very much for getting this far; if you can support me in any way it would be greatly appreciated. Happy sharing 😊 Meggie xx
