Story
Hi, my name is Meg 😊
In May, I will be running the Leeds Half Marathon eek! Alongside this I thought this would be a great achievement to open opportunities for 2 of my favourite interests because I couldn’t choose!
FND Hope UK is charity that aims to support people, families and the public to raise awareness. FND stands for functional neurological disorder and occurs when there is no physical damage to a person’s nervous system however, the problem lies when the body and brain do not communicate properly affecting nerve transmission. A useful analogy is to think that there is no damage to the computer hardware system, but there is a software issue! There are approximately 8000 new diagnoses of FND each year in the UK and, even more worldwide with often little awareness around the condition as research advocates that, why this happens is not completely understood. Therefore, any donations towards this charity could contribute to promoting awareness or fund advancing research which could make a big impact.
WWF is a widely appreciated organisation worldwide and stands for World Wildlife Fund for Nature. WWF have many partnerships worldwide and strives to protect wildlife, natural habitats and our home to preserve biodiversity and prevent against environmental harm. An insight to some research published in recent years outlines the increased rate of species extinction each year which is estimated to be between 1000 and 10,000x higher than the average natural extinction rate. Also, considering that not all species can be discovered which could mean there are even more. As well as this, WWF’s aims to prevent deforestation and battle climate change therefore, any funding that may contribute to making a difference and conserving our environment is appreciated.
PS: my favourite animal is a red panda (give it a google!) which is currently an endangered species, your donation could help to protect them!
Overall funds raised will be halved and donated to each charity.
Even if you are unable to donate, it means a lot that you have taken the time to read my JustGiving page so, thank you!
