Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Meg Mackintosh, I am 15 years old and I'm trying to raise £2500 to name and sponsor a guide dog puppy. The £2,500 will go towards the puppy's first years of training and support the charity.I'm on the final stretch so I'm doing everything I can to get the lats bits of money in. Previous fundraisers I have done include: making games to take to events, selling lots of items, including home made candles at events, and climbing 108 metres completely blindfolded.
I had intended to bungee jump in March 2020, but due to COVID-19, it was meant to be postponed to sometime this autumn. Sadly, i will be unable to participate in the jump as i have ruptured my Achilles tendon, and bungee jumping is strictly off limits for the foreseeable future.
My injury has put a lot of set backs and limitations on all of the crazy things i was planning on doing to fund raise, but i have managed to find something i can do. I will be doing 5,000 sit ups between the first and last day of August, to represent the ~5,000 guide dog partnerships currently in the UK.
My family and I are puppy walkers for and are currently training our 5th GD puppy, Willmott - another beautiful German Shepherd cross Golden Retriever, who is currently 7 months old. As puppy walkers we provide the basic training and socialisation for a puppy who lives with us from around 8 weeks old until they leave us as incredibly clever, well mannered dogs, ready for the next stage of their training. It can be devastating to watch them leave, but we know that the are going to really help someone one day and is very rewarding.
As a guide dog volunteer, I have previously helped out with numerous fund raising events such as: collections, fairs, quiz nights, tea parties and other gatherings. In doing so I have grown to know other dogs and their owners, hearing their stories about how much these dogs have helped them gain back their independence and confidence after sight loss. Getting to know the people and dogs has really showed me, over the last few years, how much help these dogs can give, with the help of small donations from people like you.
Please consider donating to contribute to a future partnership and a puppy with an epic name!
