Story

My name is Megan Kennedy, I am a final year Management Trainee for Willmott Dixon. This year I have been nominated to run Willmott Dixon Foundation Trainee Challenge, and I need your help!!!

I will be doing a Sky Dive on the 17th of June to raise money to refurbish FOUR Children's Care Homes over summer. Please read my story, and give as generously as you can - it's for such a good cause!!

Forget being a game changer; are you ready to be a life changer?

Summer 2018, I will be leading a community refurbishment project, solely funded through donations. We will be refurbishing and providing an education classroom and outdoor garden area for FOUR Children's Homes. This is a part of Willmott Dixon Foundation Trainee Challenge. If you want to read more, follow me on twitter @MeganKennedy_WD or take a look at the website! Willmott Dixon Foundation Challenge

The children that have gone into care need a homely environment, where they enjoy to live, learn and still be a child! I want to help make this happen!

However, I need your help!! I will be doing a Sky Dive on the 17th of June, to raise as much money as I can to make these homes the best we can!!!

There's also another bit.....

Whilst refurbing these homes, I will also be taking 10 women under our wings and providing them with the education and skills to gain employment into the construction industry.

For women, the construction industry isn’t often a career path and the front of their minds; this was certainly the case for me. Construction was never offered up as a possibility for my career and I found myself lost, and in a job that offered me no future. That was until Willmott Dixon offered me a place in their world, and I’ve never looked back.

With only 11% of the construction workforce made up of women, and 33% of young people saying they were not given enough guidance in choosing their career (Young Enterprise, 2016), it’s time to break down barriers and change lives.

This programme will offer holistic support and training which will leave a lasting impact beyond the programme including practical, employment and team building skills workshops; experience in refurbishing four children’s care homes; and seminars for parents and caregivers which focus on giving young people the support and guidance they need as they explore their future career options.

This will all culminate in getting these 10 young women into employment, in a career they are passionate about with the skills and support they need. But it won’t happen without you! This initiative is purely funded on donations, whether monetary or materials – my team and I need your help to change the lives of few, but impact many. So what do you say? Are you ready to change lives?
