Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Following diagnosis of stage 3 Breast Cancer. I had to have 16 sessions of aggressive (accelerated) chemotherapy, due to the size and number of tumours.
I have also undergone a left side (4.5 hours) mastectomy and auxiliary lymph nodes operation including 15 sessions of radiotherapy. A reconstruction of the removed side hasn't been arranged yet, due to the severity of the tumours and operation, additional healing time is required.
Due to an increased risk of the cancer returning, I would prefer both breasts removed (and not just the one), to eliminate any chance of this happening and I will always be worried about the cancer spreading/returning otherwise.
My gran has cancer and has already lost her daughter (my mum) to cancer, plus two of her sisters to breast cancer so the cancer returning/spreading is an immediate threat.
Due to the remaining breast being healthy (currently), the NHS have deemed the right side as cosmetic and have therefore advised that I cannot go via the NHS route.
Also, due to the scarring on the left side I will not be able to go down the usual route of silicon-based implants, therefore it will literally be a case of building my boob and it is likely the right side will be the same method.
The only option for the second mastectomy (and reconstruction) is if I self-pay, which as you can imagine is far from ideal, due to being hit hard financially, relying on my salary only and not being able to receive financial help anywhere, which I'm sure you can imagine adds additional stress in an (already) incredibly difficult time.
Anything donated would be really appreciated, whether it be one penny or £1.
