Story

The triple challenge:

Swansea 10k - 24th September 2017, Cardiff Half Marathon - 1st October 2017, Richard Burton 10k - 5th November.

Funds raised will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Team at Morriston Hospital who look after our 14 month old daughter Hollie who was diagnosed with a life limited condition - cystic fibrosis when she was 1 month old .

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited condition in which the lungs and digestive system can become clogged with thick, sticky mucus. It can cause problems with breathing and digestion from a young age. The lungs become increasingly damaged and may eventually stop working properly. It is estimated 1 in every 2,500 babies born in the UK has cystic fibrosis.

Daily treatments for Hollie include physiotherapy twice a day, nebuliser once to twice a day, antibiotics twice a day, vitamin supplements daily and Hollie has to have artificial enzymes and salt added to her food at every mealtime so she can absorb the fat from food and grow. There are also monthly visits to Morriston Hospital to check on her well being. If Hollie has a cough associated to a cold then she requires an additional two week course of antibiotics. These additional antiboitics are also prescribed if Hollie grows bugs on her lungs that can be harmful to cystic fibrosis patients. If Hollie catches a chest infection then she may require a two week hospital stay for IV's.

Unfortunately, average life expectancy is reduced for cystic fibrosis patients.

Help me fight for a life unlimited not only for Hollie but for all cystic fibrosis patients.
