    Story

On 22nd July I will be abseiling 262 feet from the Arcelormittal Orbit at the Olympic Park, Stratford to raise funds for the amazing organisation that I work for; Play Association Hammersmith & Fulham.

Play Association is a charity that supports deprived and disabled children and young people in Hammersmith and Fulham and surrounding boroughs. They run pop-up mainstream projects and youth clubs, as well as specialised provision for young people with disabilities.

Play Association believes that every child has the right to play freely, and that play is an essential part of children’s welfare and development. They aim to promote, support, improve and deliver high quality play provision and experiences.

The Antony Lillis Project is a specialised playscheme for children and young people with disabilities including Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome. All children have a minimum of 1:1 support and some present very challenging behaviours. The project provides exciting and inclusive activities and experiences for the young people in a fun, safe and stimulating environment, at the same time providing much needed respite for their families. Lots of the young people have communication difficulties and sensory issues with noise, lighting, textures etc. Many have no awareness of danger and it can be difficult to find appropriate venues for trips that meet their needs, some of which are out of London.

I am fundraising for the Lillis Project in particular to help with funding for sensory equipment, resources and trips/transport because disabled children are different, not less and deserve the same chances and opportunities as others. For more info about the charity, visit www.playassociationhf.org.uk

GoPro footage will be added to PAHF’s website and social media pages and 100% of donations will go direct to the charity. Get donating for these amazing young people!
