Story
We heard about the deplorable learning conditions in Gendema & Takpoima community in Moyamba District Sierra Leone. When our charity visited, we were shocked to find children sitting on stones in a makeshift school with no toilet facilities, no proper boards, no books, and the roof about to cave-in. During lunch break, we discovered that these children went down to the highly contaminated communal stream to drink water. Our charity Serve United UK has been haunted by that experience, and we just could not sit by and do nothing. These children need help and they need it urgently. As a charity, we have already secured a 2 acre piece of land and with our personal funds have started the foundation work for the building. This project will also include six VIP(ventilated improved pit) toilets and a hand-pumped water bore hole, as well as a walled fence to secure the premises for other future developments.
