Story
Before I met my husband I literally lived hand to mouth. Being a single mum was hard, very hard. I worked part-time in a local chip shop for 8 years whilst I studied graphic design at college, then university, with the intention of giving my kids are better life. My version of skint was tipping my sofa upside to find enough money to buy a loaf of bread! I know other peoples versions of skint are very different.
I started my own business after graduating. Still a single mum at this point. I printed 5,000 leaflets advertising my service and me and the kids went out on foot delivering through letterboxes. I paid the kids for helping, so they learned the value in working hard too.
I grew the business to a little printing company which has kept me busy and i've since got married and extended my family.
I've been looking for a vulnerable family that i can donate things to, such as the clothes my children outgrow, anything good quality. I've given away so much on Facebook for free to people who need things. The response I get giving away free things is overwhelming. The amount of vulnerable families out there who are living in poverty is heartbreaking. A lot of what I hear, from young families, is that children are going without food because they have no way of getting a food delivery, either no transport or no computer to buy food online. And also, clothing is a real struggle to get hold of because the charity shops are closed. I felt torn giving away my free clothes because there were so many children needing them, it was so hard to decide who needed them the most.
I've started this page so i can actually distribute the money via food vouchers, taxi services to get shopping, helping with electric bills and and also giving support and encouragement to the young families who are starting out, just like i did.
