Story
We are raising funds to buy a memorial tree for one of our founder members and good friend Jean Ketley.
Jean has certainly left a huge hole in the Friends of Sandall Park group. A stalwart, never shying away from hard work, always making the group smile and leaving special memories with each and every one of us. She was a founding member and remained a member until she passed away, continuing to be interested its progress.
Whatever was happening in the park, be it a litter pick; planting bulbs; a major event or simply a health walk – Jean was always there, even when she wasn’t well. She is probably best known for her job taking registrations for the annual Hook a Duck championships.
She always made us laugh at FoSP meetings with her anecdotes. Her repertoire at the FoSP Christmas party – singing along to Ron’s piano playing of the Christmas Carols is unrivalled, she was always game for a laugh.
She will truly be missed by all our group and to ensure her memory lives on in the park we want to buy a tree in her honour. Please help us to do that and consider making a donation. Thank you.

3 years agoThank you to all who donated to provide this gorgeous tree for Jean Ketley. We can't wait to see it flourish and bloom. It is on the slope in front of the two memorial benches. Please help us to keep an eye on it and look after it. The plaque will be arriving in the not too distant future. Thank you so much, on behalf of the Friends of Sandall Park, and Jean's family. It will be a fitting tribute in her memory.

It will be a lasting memorial in a park that Jean loved, cherished, and worked hard to preserve and protect. Jean was one in a million and will be remembered always with love and affection.
