Story
24hr Isle of Wight Ultra in Memory of Allan Reeve
This year’s challenge will be our toughest to date, not only because of the 106km in 24 hours around the coast of the Isle of Wight (with 2000m of elevation thrown in) but because we lost a close friend a few months after we completed last year’s Hadrian’s Wall challenge for Railway Children.
Allan Reeve (Reevzi) passed away after a car accident last year and was an integral member of our team who would take on these challenges each year for the Railway Children charity. The Isle of White challenge was Reevzi’s suggestion for this year and so, in his memory, we are going to take on and complete this challenge with him firmly in our hearts and minds throughout.
Reevzi was the rock on our challenges, nothing could break his mental resolve. When we was all in pain, fatigued and emotionally drained he would be the one to drive us through. He never had a negative thought, he was there to pick each of us up if we ever had a wobble and he would keep us entertained with his stories, jokes, and constant singing.
His aura will be massively missed this year and that is why without his energy and positivity this is going to be an extremely tough challenge! In previous years there was 6 of us, this year we currently have a team of 20 who are going to complete this in Reevzi’s memory.
We appreciate with the cost of living, times are tough for everyone but every pound helps. We can’t wait to smash these targets in Memory of Reevzi, help support as many children as possible.
