Story

RIP Dad, our legend.

My Dad, Trevor Milner MBE, was cruelly taken from us on Monday. Dad battled hard but Covid-19 won on Day 17. Prior to this, Dad could climb a mountain with 3 doting grandchildren in tow. Covid-19 appeared. One week later, he couldn't say one word without being severely breathless. Covid-19 took him far too soon. We are totally heartbroken. I know many of you are too. He touched a lot of lives. He was the kindest soul. We are so so proud of him and always will be.

"What would Trevor do" is a motto made up by my friends, used by many. His advice was second to none. If you were lucky enough to meet him...you instantly loved him. He gave his time, love, blood, sweat and tears to help everyone. He saw something special in everyone regardless of ability or additional needs. He fostered some incredible human beings and devoted his life to helping anyone who needed help especially through running Gateway Club for 50 years.

He leaves an incredible heartbroken wife who loved him very much. His last words over the phone to my Mum before they sedated him in ICU, a cherished "I Love you".

He leaves 3 heartbroken grandchildren who loved and respected their Grandad so much. They had such a beautiful, close, honest, loveable, committed, selfless relationship... The morals, ethics, impact and love he had for my children will remain with them for a lifetime. He was there to help them through every dirty nappy, bump on the knee, friendship dilema, immunisation, den building hiccup, Chelsea fc defeat 💙.

He loved the nursery/school run, watching their performances, planting trees and hearing readers in the classroom. He would celebrate every achievement they made no matter how small.

He never missed a football match (Hudson's). He put his ALL into everything especially with his Grandchildren: hide and seek, exploring the woods, climbing trees, swimming, craft activities, baking, playing endless games of football and cricket, playing babies, playdough, painting, pushing them on the swing for hours, coffee dates at Cafe Nero, riding bikes, watching Chelsea f.c, reading books, trips to museums, trips to the farm, soft play, Bekonscot and leaving the best midnight feasts on a sleepover. They also loved just sitting and talking with him about anything and everything.

Their relationship was phenomenal. His love and teaching was phenomenal. He has shaped my children's hearts and minds. This will empower them for a lifetime.

He adored his grandchildren and they will forever adore him. He was one true gent.

Our life has been shattered but I am determined to take my family into the future with Dad on our shoulder in spirit... Reaching for the stars, looking out for those who need help, being kind to all, turning a negative into a positive and keeping our family close, safe and loved.

"What would Trevor do?" He was a legend and deserved a much better ending. Once this insanity is over, we will give him the best celebration.

Love you so much Dad.

Keep practising your grandad dance so we can party again soon.
