I've raised £6000 to help with the costs of holding 20 Tea Dances in various communities, aimed at bringing the elderly community together to socialise.

Story

A few years ago when my mum had Alzheimer's,  I wanted to take her to an afternoon tea dance, as she had first met my dad at a dance in Leicester, and I thought that the music and watching people dance would spark a memory or two and be good for her well being.  But sadly I could not find any events in my local or surrounding areas, so we had to make do by creating our own tea dance at home. It was good and it did bring a smile to her face, but it was not the same as it would have been at a proper dance.

So after having recently retired this year, one of the first things on my list of things I would like to do, is to organise a local tea dance for ladies and gentlemen who would benefit from a social afternoon of fun.

With the help of my friend Karen and local volunteers, we are planning what I hope will be the first of many tea dances in the East Midlands, starting in Melbourne, Derbyshire.

To help with the costs of the events we are asking for donations of either tea pots, tablecloths etc or by sponsoring our memory wall.

If you have items to donate please get in touch or to sponsor our memory wall please donate (suggested donation £3) and leave the message that you would like to be displayed on our wall, if you would like to add a photo please send it to localteadance@gmail.com

Thank you so much for your support
