Story
I am raising money for the Snowdrops Team part of Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
I along with Elliott Pointon, Tom Sanders, Sam Ord, Tom Kimberley and Dan Brown will be taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge. We are aiming to do this in 24 hours, if you know me - then one of the boys may have to carry me up so it is definitely going to be a difficult task. The date that we set off is Friday 23rd June 2023.
This is in memory of my son Albie who passed away at Alder Hey Hospital at 13 days old.
The Snowdrops Bereavement Team helped massively in the time after Albie passed away and are still just a phone call away.
They enabled us to spend quality time with Albie in a homely setting. We had our own room and he had his own cot. We were able to hold him and our family were able to visit to say their goodbyes.
Holding your baby is taken for granted. The first time that we were able to do this was when Albie’s life support machines were turned off and he was passing away. We can’t express how important it was just to be able to hold him in the Snowdrops Suite without his tubes and have that time as a family. We will be forever grateful for the Snowdrops Team facilitating this.
They also provided a memory box with various items including Albie’s hand and foot prints which we will cherish forever.
They supported us with the difficult tasks that nobody wants to do when their baby passes away and continue to do so. I want to support them and their work so that they can continue this support with other bereaved families.
