Funding For A Mental Health Awareness Film!
On the 23'rd September 2017 myself and a good friend and social activist Holly Campbell! will be running/skipping/laughing our way through a 5k Run! Followed by 90 minutes of yoga, 30 minutes of meditation and then an acro-yoga class! Along with lots of other yummy mindfulness classes that will be available for us to participate in on the day.
I know a 5k run is not usually a run that people try and raise money for, however I am passionate about speaking out about Mental Health in order to raise awareness of its importance. Not only that, but I think it is vital that us as people need to come together to reduce the stigma attached to it, and stop discriminating those who are suffering from mental health conditions. I believe we need more awareness around it and more help needs to be given to those who are suffering.
Moreover, I want to bring my own holistic take on the matter at hand, I want to...not only talk about Mental Health issues and help those who are suffering, but I want to talk about the importance of maintaining a healthy and positive mindset. My goal is to spread awareness, knowledge and provide tips on how to look after your mind, body and soul in order to prevent stress, anxiety, depression and other mental conditions from occurring and/or worsening - things we definitely wasn't taught how to do in school! Different ways in which I hope to help improve peoples mental health will be through things such as: a healthy balanced diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, breath work and other natural ways that can help change ones mental state for the better.
My Passion stems from having experienced serve depression myself, luckily I and with the help of professionals...was able to naturally heal myself. After healing myself, I felt and still do feel like a new woman! This painfully, yet magically transformational experience has given me confidence that I can really help others and make a difference to peoples mental health, especially the younger generation of today. The Dali Lama once said: Once you heal yourself you can heal the world.
Statistics show that 1 in 6 people suffer from mental health conditions, however I believe that we all suffer from mental health issues. It may not be classified by the NHS as one, however our mental state included's everything from as little as one negative thought; as those negative thoughts play a big impact on how we live our daily lives, and a lot of the time they are there unconsciously. Your thoughts are constantly sending messages to your body, feeding your emotional system, and what happens when you feel a certain way....you then act a certain way. So through bringing an holistic approach to mental health, I am aiming to help people manage and most importantly change the way in which they think, but also find a release to their suffering and trauma, this will involve lots of healing work.
So.....more help and positive change can only be done if MORE awareness around Mental Health is spread! Please help me and the project that I am working with (Project 21) to help raise the funds we need to make a film to spread more and more awareness and hopefully make a difference.
