Story

Hello - My name's Jamie. I'm 25.

For the past ten years or so I've struggled with my Mental Health. I've been through the eating disorders, I've scared off addictions, I sail the treacherous seas of depression, and fight the ever aggressive anxiety, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.

Counselling just wasn't for me. Medication wasn't sustainable. Comfortable relationships were a sham. Food made me obese. Obsessively over exercising brought on acute anorexic disorder. It then turned to binge eating disorder.

Peer support groups, however, work.

Last year I tried to kill myself twice. The work that Gary and the gang do at Men Telll Health has stopped me from making it "third time's a charm" and I know it's helping many, many other men too. Men Tell Health are a UK-based Community Interest Company devoted to men and mental health. Their free, regular 'speak-easy' events bring people like me and other men struggling together, to talk, to feel that there is something else.

£300 a year keeps their website running. An extra £350 keeps one of the speak-easy events running (at the time of writing they have 5!). I'm hoping to raise as much money as I can, an ambitious £1000, and will be running Tough Mudder on Sunday 29 July 2018. Please donate anything you can in order to help keep this amazing group up and help keep people like me alive.
