    Story

Dogs 4 Rescue is a unique, independent dog rescue in a semi-rural part of Manchester where the dogs live together in a kennel free environment run by Emma Billington and the team. The dogs spend their days getting all the exercise, socialisation, stimulation, love and care that they need whilst waiting for their forever homes. They are free, happy and sleep in warm beds at night, completely unaware they are homeless dogs. The dogs here live with us alongside our goats, sheep, hens, pigs,, cats, , turkeys and more. As vegans, we respect all animal life the same.

Our aim is to challenge the perception many people hold towards rescue dogs and other animals and to revolutionise the way dog rescues operate. Rescue dogs are often unfairly labelled as ‘damaged goods’. Many prospective adopters worry that rescue dogs are feral, undisciplined and destructive. They are convinced that street dogs will not be able to adapt to a domestic environment and will be impossible to house train.

This is simply not true and in fact, the opposite is what people find as street dogs make great family pets. They have a healthy respect towards other pack members and an almost innate understanding of their position in the pack. Rescue dogs seem to be forever grateful for the change in fortune that has brought them into a home. They know how lucky they are and their joy for life is catching!

At Dogs 4 Rescue, we are setting out to challenge and change the stigma associated with rescue dogs and to prove they are as adaptable, sociable and well behaved as any other pet.

The evidence is growing to suggest that dogs become stressed by standard rescue kennel facilities. And this stress can lead to behavioural problems that weren’t present prior to their incarceration. It is not surprising that stressed dogs act out of character and do not give the best ‘first impression’ to visitors.

Unlike typical rescue kennels, which are loud, busy, stressful places that are not conducive to a happy re-homing experience, Dogs 4 Rescue lets the dogs shine.

Our cage-free environment gives the dogs the structure they need and the time to adapt in a fun, caring foster home. And our open days are the perfect platform for showcasing our rescue dogs at their very best.

Our dogs are not kept in kennels like most other rescues.

You can also take a look our dogs available for adoption. We pride ourselves on finding people their perfect matches. So go on, get in touch, tell us what your dream dog would be and we will find them for you.

We have seen huge success and rescued and rehomed nearly 1000 dogs so far in the 4 years we have been running.

We are solely funded by profits from our Daycare 4 Dogs dog crèche together with a variety of fundraising efforts and the golden paw club. Our team of committed staff, customers and followers have all contributed towards this by organising car boots, sponsored sleepovers, marathons, fun days and cake stalls.

The family continues to grow at Dogs 4 Rescue

We work with some key partners in the pounds here in the UK, Cyprus, Romania, Bulgaria and have brought dogs in need as far as from Afghanistan. We see no geographical boundaries when a dog’s life needs saving.
