Story

Every living thing depends on the ocean. The sea covers 70% of our planet’s surface and it contains an amazingly diverse array of life and affects everything from global weather patterns to food systems. The ocean is in trouble from the effects of overfishing, climate change, and pollution

I am hoping to raise £1000 to donate to a marine conservation charity to help battle these effects on the Ocean.

I am currently running for the title of Miss mermaid Uk and as a ‘creature of the sea‘ I am passionate about the ocean and the affects that we’re having on it.

So if you‘re wanting to make a difference and wish for clean, full and healthy oceans please make a donation today, otherwise you can follow these few steps to help make a change

Shop responsibly

Look for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) labels. Their blue and green fish logos on your seafood ensures your fish can be traced back to sustainably-managed fisheries and farms.

Reduce carbon emmisions

turn off lights and unplug electronics when you’re not using them, adjust your thermostat, walk or ride your bike to work, and demand renewable energy options in your community

Skip Single Use Plastics

With 8 million tons of plastic dumped into the ocean each year, there could be a pound of plastic for every three pounds of fish in the ocean within the next decade alone. To minimize your impact, remove unnecessary single-use plastics from your daily habits.
