    Thank you for supporting us!

Messages from the HeART is a project for people with lived experience of mental health and associated issues to express what they want/need to say to service providers, leaders and society through art, poetry and other creative media...and have their voices heard and heeded.

It also provides an environment in which service-providers can learn about relational practice and compassionate engagement from the people with the most insight into where change is needed - experts by experience.

People who are marginalised often feel powerless and unheard. This project empowers participants who have something important to say, and ensures that they are heard by people with the power to make change.

Although HITH has some funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for specific projects, this does not cover Messages from the HeART . Sharing stories is a way to develop confidence, emapthy and friendship, and we seek to identify what is important and how we can use our stories to affect compassionate cultural change.

HITH's staff and directors all have lived experience which we freely share to encourage and inspire our participants. All have a story that needs to be told, to aid personal recovery and healing, to inspire and inform others and to challenge the status quo in services and society.

With your help and generosity, we can further create a compassionate environment in which people from challenging backgrounds find belonging and the power to Make A Difference.

Any contribution is wholeheartedly appreciated. Thank you.

    Participants have said:

Seeing my art displayed ... made me feel so many things, pride in myself being one that I haven't felt for a long time

This project has renewed my sense of purpose"

I know I am not alone"

This is the most meaningful thing I have ever done"

Being able to speak has freed me"

    Service Providers have said:

Being here today has made me feel moved and inspired in the most extraordinary way."

I was able to leave my professional identity at the door and interact with others in a truly human way."

I have learned so much in such a short space of time.

Hope in the Heart is a UK-based social enterprise that seeks to improve mental health and wellbeing and inspire positive change in individuals, communities and the wider world through creative workshops, training, resources and events. We value the expertise gained through lived experience, and the importance of prioritising relationships over systems. All Hope in the Heart's staff and directors have lived experience of mental health and associated issues, and this informs all areas of our work.
