Story
When a girl walks into a bright, well-equipped classroom she sees more than desks and books; she sees a future that was once out of reach. That is the promise at the heart of Methodist Girls Secondary School, Ovim – a school that has shaped generations of women who now serve as doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs and public servants around the world. Yet the buildings that nurtured these successes are ageing, resources are stretched, and today’s students face the added burden of poor health care and the persistent threat of harmful practices such as female genital mutilation.
A £50,000 fund will let us act on four urgent fronts: refurbishing and furnishing classroom blocks so every lesson begins in a safe, inspiring space; stocking the infirmary with sanitary and medical supplies that protect girls’ dignity and well-being; launching a structured mentorship and academic-support programme that links students with accomplished alumnae; and sustaining community campaigns that confront FGM, trafficking and other threats head-on. Every pound goes straight to these aims, with progress reported publicly.
Your contribution is an investment in human potential. Whether you give the cost of a textbook or sponsor an entire classroom, you will help change the arc of a girl’s life and, in time, the fortunes of her family and community.
