Story

Hello!

My name is Gabriel. I am 31 years old, neurodivergent, disabled, queer and trans. I desperately need help in raising funds to access a full ADHD needs assessment and medication. The upfront cost of all these together is impossible for me; our household income doesn't allow for such a huge expense.

I am currently struggling because of ADHD, PTSD and OCD. I was awaiting an appointment with an ADHD specialist for a treatment plan. However, today I found out that it will be late August at the earliest before I can have an initial appointment with an NHS doctor; my care team therefore decided we cannot progress with my trauma recovery therapy until there is a plan in place for my . This has devastated me. The trauma from both childhood and adult SA has impacted my life, my finances and my relationships. I have withdrawn from virtually all social events and friends. I have flashbacks and struggle to be around my husband sometimes.

Like many people with ADHD I also struggle with my daily life. Currently my husband, on top of his studies, has to maintain our household because I am completely incapable of it. This is an added stress, as the household chores spiral quickly and make things difficult to manage.

I am the main source of income for our household. However, the lack of managing ADHD has meant I am struggling greatly and have run into difficulties at work. We cannot afford for me to lose my job, but I have struggled hugely with employment due to ADHD.

The growing issues around my PTSD and OCD have meant it is urgent for me to access this trauma therapy too, but due to the extremely long wait for an ADHD needs assessment my care team will not proceed.

I realise this amount is steep and I am happy to provide a breakdown of the costs for anyone who wishes to see.
