    Story

Mia had a stroke at the age of 21 leaving her with a condition called "Locked In Syndrome" she is paralysed from the neck down and is unable to speak. She is fed via a peg tube direct to her stomach.
Mia can only communicate by using a specialised computer which recognises her eye movements.
However this has not stopped Mia from pursuing her goals and dreams. She has taken part in a skydive, she has enjoyed sledging at an indoor facility, she has enjoyed an underwater shark dive, taken on the snowdonia zipwire, gone off road buggying and horse riding.
Despite her terrible condition Mia has still found the time and determination to help various charitable causes. She volunteers for a group called Befriending the Elderly as well as supporting a center for the homeless in Liverpool. She had her hair cut for charity and regularly donates to a children's orphanage in Gambia which she visited last year. A recent trip to the refugee camp in Calais saw Mia donate a van full of clothing to the "Jungle" families.
Seven years on, Mia is determined to make progress and is looking to take part in a variety of forms of rehabilitation.
Mia attends weekly oxygen therapy sessions, she attends a salt cave twice a week and has regular gym and swimming pool exercise sessions. She has also volunteered for stem cell research.
Recently Mia came across an alternative therapy center in Budapest which she would like to visit for two weeks later this year.
Sadly all these therapies and activities are expensive. Without funding her progress will be stalled and her morale eroded. It cannot be underestimated how essential this rehabilitation really is for Mia's future.
We are trying to raise money for this rehab and also to allow Mia to lead as active a life as possible. Mia's full story can be found on her facebook page 'Mountains for Mia'
