On the 16th of July I will be trying to complete one of the hardest endurance events in the UK. The event is called ironman and consists of the following - 2.4m open water swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a 26.2 mile run. This has to be completed in 17 hours.
I signed up for the event at Christmas and have been following a 6 month training programme to try and prepare me for the event. I'm not going to lie this has been tough, with lots of early starts to try and fit in the training required.
I would really like to raise some money for 3 charities and will split whatever is raised equally between the charities.
The first charity is the Christie hospital in Manchester. I'm sure you have all been unlucky enough to know somebody who has had/have cancer. A close friend of my family has been battling the disease and the support and help that Christie's has offered has been fantastic.
The second charity is the Stroke association. This has affected my my family directly and would like to raise awareness into the disease.
The third charity is meningitis uk. This is another disease that has affected a close friend of mine recently.
I would like to raise as much money as possible to help ensure that I've done the event for a purpose and to help others.
