Story
Sri Lanka is notorious for it’s luxurious beaches and handsome weather however it should be noted that behind the luxury lies a taboo subject.
Mental health on a whole, is largely ignored and unspoken about; consequently, thousands of citizens are left with little to no help which can often lead to suicide. Furthermore SLV Global are a volunteering organization that provide a service to those suffering with mental health issues. As a Psychology student, I am largely interested in learning about different cultures and how mental health is dealt with within those cultures. Unfortunately, to volunteer, expenses are not free which means that I am limited.
In addition, expenses are £1,300 which includes accommodation and a support network. These expenses mean I could have four weeks, hands on experience with those who are dealing with mental health issues. With SLV Global I am able to get the experience that I need, to potentially help those suffering with mental health issues. All your help would be highly appreciated and every donation will help me to care for those in need. Let’s put a stop to mental health being a hidden, taboo subject.
Kind Regards,
Michael Hodgson
