Rebecca suffers from Huntington's disease which is a devastating neuro degenerative illness.

This illness affects all aspects of Rebecca's life.

The illness means that she is unable to wash, dress or feed herself without help. Rebecca also needs help using the toilet. The illness has also affected Rebecca’s cognitive abilities.

In addition the disease has progressed so far that Rebecca is unable to walk unaided and uses a wheelchair when she is out of the house.

Rebecca is unable to walk up stairs and has to be carried up the stairs to bed and to shower. This situation is far from satisfactory and is actually becoming quite dangerous.

Despite her illness Rebecca is a very positive and happy lady with a love for life. Her friends regularly pay tribute to what an inspiration she is.

The greatest love of her life is her daughter Annie who is 6. Rebecca loves taking Annie to school and regularly does this by sitting her on her lap whilst I push them both. Rebecca loves being involved in all that Annie does. Annie really does give Rebecca a reason to live!

We are currently in the process of raising funds to adapt our house to create a downstairs bedroom and wet room for Rebecca.

Without these new facilities we will have no choice but to put Rebecca into a care home. This would be disastrous for Rebecca , Mike and Annie as it would split the family

We are currently facing a £15,000 shortfall between the funding we have and the total cost of the building work.

The building work can’t be started until all the money has been raised.
