Story

I am fundraising so that a colleague of mine Emma can take time off work to look after her little boy Theo, who is 8 years old, after his brain operation to try to improve some of the many Cavernomas he has. It will also relive the burden of any equipment needed to make Theo comfortable and hopefully have something left to buy him some treats :-). Please see the link below for more information on Cavernomas, but in short they are weaknesses in the blood vessels that form blackberry shaped bubbles that leak blood either slowly or they can burst causing a hemorrhage or stroke.

This illness has affected Theo for quite a while now, it has affected his personality and he suffers from seizures regularly. Emma has had to take a lot of time off work to look after Theo and attend many appointments at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

As this is a major operation, Theo will need time to recover and have the care from Doctors, but most importantly the care that only a mother can give. The only option that is available is to take an unpaid sabbatical, and at this very stressful time, the added financial burden is not something the family should have to worry about. There are additional financial burdens, such a new pushchair as Theo often becomes tired and needs rest, hospital parking, overnight stays at the hospital.

This horrible disease is something close to my heart too as my Mother suffers the same, but as she is in her 70's they will not operate.

Please help me raise this money to so that a family can spend time together during such a stressful time. This will no doubt not be the last of Theo's treatment but it will hopefully be a big step towards his recovery and the chance to live a normal life.

Thank you in advance for any donations.
