Story
Allison Kathryn Schofield 14/10/53 - 15/01/19
Allison was a devoted wife to Michael and mother to Christopher and Jonathan. She met Mike at university in Bangor, North Wales and they married a year after graduating, in 1976. They eventually settled in Suffolk after a further 10 years where they lived happily for the next 32 years.
Allison's second love was the Brownies, Guides and Rangers. She became a Brownie aged 9 in 1963 and was involved in guiding-related activities, with only a few breaks in her early years of marriage until she received a terminally ill diagnosis in November 2018. She will forever be known as Brown Owl of Tostock Brownies, a post she held for 29 years from 1987, thereafter working with the local Trefoil Guild.
She believed in Guides (and Scouts) as a force for good, providing girls with traditional interests and skills which would help them while growing up. She lived her life, either consciously or coincidentally holding fast to the best Guiding promises of doing your duty, helping others before yourself, being utterly reliable, true to her word and always wanting to do her best and 'lend a hand'. She was also kind, generous, with a keen sense of humour, plain speaking and beautiful, although she never thought she had any of these qualities.
She hated the idea of waste and expense at funerals and so we have decided to raise funds in lieu of floral tributes, to help with the development of local Brownies and Guides, in some way to be agreed with the local organisation, as a lasting memorial to her. She, I think, would have liked that.
She will be missed beyond belief by me and our 2 sons. All of us now have a huge Allison-shaped hole in our lives. She will also be greatly missed by all those she helped or simply had contact with.
Please help us to realise our ambition to create something which will benefit a cause she believed in absolutely and which she held dear.

5 years agoThere were more than 80 people at Allison’s celebration of life service on 23rd Feb to hear tributes, see photos and hear music which was special to her. It demonstrated just how loved and highly thought she was. The link below is the slide show set to Send in the Clowns by Judy Collins - our song which we played to each other before every exam during finals at Uni and Sloop John B by the Beach Boys - Allison reckoned she could sing all the harmonies in the chorus on her own! We raised a further £400 which I will top up to £2500 - brilliant!

5 years agoWe have already exceeded the target but let’s do even better. She was such an amazing and much-loved person but didn’t believe she was important. She was wrong and I told her so frequently and she will now have to admit it! Her celebration of life service is in Elmswell on Saturday 23rd February when all will be welcome.

Hi MikeSo pleased to see so much has been raised! We are on holiday in the Lake District when the service is on, but I will visit Elterwater and remember her there. I hope she would like that! James
