Story

My twin brother is an Ex Royal Marine. He unfortunately had to have his Right leg amputated above the knee,in addition he cannot use his right hand and to compound matters further he has fits.

He and i want to highlight that there are people alot worse off than Keith, however, Keith is desperate to have a prosthetic leg that works for him,a leg that he can have confidence in.At the moment Keith has a NHS prosthesis, which again we want to stress that he is very grateful for, however, it does not meet Keith's needs.Keith is still a young active man,the NHS leg tends to break down,it will lock and Keith falls over regularly. He has lost confidence in it

Prosthesis legs cost an absolute fortune, something that we cannot afford to get ourselves.Once a leg is purchased it has to have regular maintenance, that is why we are trying to raise so much money.

If Keith lived in England, he would get a C Leg on the NHS. The C Leg is a rolls Royce of artificial legs. This is the leg Keith wants. But he cannot have it in Wales and there are no plans to my knowledge to make this leg available in Wales to amputees.

Keith NEVER complains about his situation. He honestly makes the best of what he has. Parents with young children in Tesco/Bridgend will have seen Keith showing children his leg.Rather than children being afraid, Keith helps them to have the confidence to approach and speak to people with disabilities.

I felt moved to try and raise enough funds to get Keith a C Leg because of the fact that i believe ALL amputee's irrespective of where in the country they live, should be given one. Also Keith is still a very active young man. He was invited to go to Sweden by the Military to undertake a winter survival course. He was advised Not to go because of the limitations of his NHS prosthetic leg. Other lads had a C Leg which are better suited to manage the harsh environment The organisers felt it presented too much of a risk. Keith desperately wanted to go.

Prior to Keith's injury he played Rugby in Wales to a very good standard.Since his injury the Welsh Rugby Union have taken him and others like Keith under their care and they provide significant help and support. The WRU have been absolutely fantastic in supporting Keith. THANK YOU TO ALL AT THE WRU (Welsh Rugby Union)

Please if you could help us to raise this money so he can be fitted with a C leg or its equivalent then i can honestly say you will have made a huge impact to the quality of Keith's life, in addition to his self esteem.
