My name is Michaela. I have Cerebral Palsy and am wheelchair dependent. I can walk short distances in my walker.
On 15th OCTOBER 2016 at 12 noon, I am going to attempt to walk around the whole of the sailing lake at Rickmansworth Aquadrome to raise money for ‘Chasing Charlie’s Cure’.
Charlie is the youngest son of some very good friends of mine. In fact Charlie’s Dad, Mark, and his Auntie Emma both used to help me when I was little.
Charlie is very poorly with a very aggressive cancer called neuroblastoma. He was diagnosed in March this year when he was only 9 months old and is having lots of treatment including chemotherapy, surgery and stem cell transplant.
Money is being raised because at the end of the treatment there is a 50% risk of the cancer returning, and if it does Charlie will need to go to America as this is the only place he can be helped, and it is very expensive. If he doesn’t need to go to America, all money raised will go to Neuroblastoma Research.
