On the 22nd of September 2015 Michael tragically passed away from a heart attack in his sleep aged 58, as a family we are raising money for the instillation and upkeep of a defibrillator at Yardley and District RFC, in the hope that if it is ever needed we can prevent a family from suffering the same heartache we all endure everyday since losing Michael.

Michael was a lover of sport and started out playing football, as a strong and skillful defender for Clubs such as Coventry City School Boys under Noel Cantwell, Highgate United, Moor Green and Solihull Borough to name a few, Michael was offered a Professional Contract in his Teens but on the advise of his father became an apprentice at Lucas and went on to become a successful Design Engineer playing Football on a Semi Professional basis.

This enabled him to occasionally (when he was suspended) play Rugby with his brother Ronnie for Yardley and district RFC, a sport he also excelled at and once retired from football at 30, went on to become team captain and played well into his 50's. Ronnie and Michael negotiated a deal with their wives that if they played, they had to take all 7 children with them. As a family friendly club endless fun was had and the days for the children would be full of mischief and climbing trees, followed by falling asleep on chairs whilst their dads drank and sang the night away. The first thing Michael would look for at an oppositions clubhouse would be a conker tree, his belief that all rugby clubs should have one. Michael later coached his son's Jack, William and Ashley's Football and Rugby teams.

We are planning events to help raise money which we will keep you updated on through this page. If you would like to help or have any ideas please contact us. We appreciate any donations towards this cause and thank you for reading
