Story
Cheshire West & Chester Council have suggested 4 possible sites for Gypsy & Traveller transit sites within our parish. Parish residents have formed a Resident Action group to object these plans. We've been fighting these plans since 2015. The next stage of our campaign will require funding for planning and legal representation, professional fees and reports (we're aiming to raise £75,000). Should the Council confirm that it is proceeding with the site (approx. mid 2017), we need to be prepared to instruct an effective legal team and submit a defence. In addition to pledging money towards these legal fees myself, I'm raising additional funds by running a 10K in Manchester at the end of May. All money raised will be donated to the Resident Action Group, who will use it in our defence against the Council's plans. If, for some reason the Council back down and we don't need legal representation etc. the funds will be put towards other projects in our rural parish, such as a safe drop off for children at our primary school or towards purchasing the currently council-owned land to prevent any future developments on this green-field site. Further info can be found here, under the RAG - Gypsy site section: http://www.whitegatemarton.org.uk
Please help us to protect our beautiful rural parish!
Many thanks,
Mike
