Crowdfunding is the new way to raise money for a personal cause on JustGiving.
The focus of this project is to improve and further develop conservation practices and protection for Bottlenose Dolphins. They are an increasingly threatened species due to commercial fishing techniques that impact both them and their food source, and, the increasing pollution of our planet’s seas.
The project is taking place off the Croatian coast in the Adriatic Sea and runs annually between May and October. It includes acoustic monitoring, looking at pod and individual behaviour of the dolphins, their foraging practices and the health of the environment in which they live.
I am currently in my final year of an Animal Care Diploma programme at Plumpton College in East Sussex. Alongside contributing to research that will help protect this magnificent animal this project will be another step in expanding my experience and helping me move towards my career ambition of working internationally in animal welfare and conservation, helping with the protection of threatened and endangered species, and fragile habitats and eco systems.
I am donating my manpower, learning and time to the project. Monies raised will be used to cover basic costs for me (Approx. 1/3), with the rest going directly to help maintain critical equipment and operational research costs.
