Story

in December 2020, Michele was diagnosed with Myeloma, an incurable blood cancer. However, Myeloma can be controlled through treatment (https://www.myeloma.org.uk/understanding-myeloma/what-is-myeloma/). After a life threatening case of Sepsis during Christmas 2020, Michele battled through and started a course of induction chemotherapy in January 2021. After a successful course of chemotherapy, Michele will now undergo an autologous stem cell transplant (June 2021). The stem cell transplant aims to put Michele into a 'deep remission". However, the treatment involves one single dose of very strong chemotherapy. As a result of this single dose, it is unfortunately inevitable that Michele will lose her hair. Therefore, Michele has decided to "brave the shave' before being admitted in to hospital in order for her to donate her hair to charity. Michele wants to create as many positives out of this situation so would there for also like to raise some money for the Phoenix Day Unit at Aintree Hospital where she has been receiving treatment so far. The Phoenix Day Unit provides a day service for haematology patients including chemotherapy and day treatments. They have just moved into a new unit with a lovely garden area which has the potential to be utilised as an area for their patients while undergoing treatment. All fund raised will be donated directly to the unit for them to use how enhance patients experience when going through a difficult time. Thank you for reading Michele's story and for any kind donations.
