I’m raising £1,000 to support and improve playtime at Mellers Primary School through the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme, by our staff taking part in a sponsored walk.

OPAL play encourages children to explore, create and imagine using open-ended resources such as loose parts, natural materials and outdoor spaces. Instead of being limited to traditional playground equipment, children are given the freedom to invent their own games, build, problem-solve and collaborate.

Playtime is often seen as just a break from lessons, but it is so much more than that. It is a vital part of a child’s development, especially in primary school when imagination, creativity, and social skills are blossoming every day.
