Story

Scott, as a young man joined the Army, served his country, deployed on operations and sacrifed a whole lot.

Since leaving he has hugely struggled with complex mental health issues and despite engaging in mental health services he hasnt been given the support he needs. Not even close 😖 unfortunately this neglect has led to an addiction to alcohol. It‘s tragic.

Months ago, it was recognised by some of his friends that he needed some help. Since then a team of people have been trying to navigate the multitude of charities on his behalf to access the services he needs. We have been met with a series of bureaucrats unwilling to help, or been given a whole list of ‘hoops to jump through’ before we can even be considered for support. All of which take way too much time, whilst Scott continues to decline. I would like to say that this is unusual; it‘s the norm.

We are asking you to support Scott and donate (ANY amount) to help access a fantastic programme that will give him a great opportunity to get his life on track. We are aiming to raise £6k which is half the cost of the programme. We are continuing our work to get donations from the relevant charities to make up the rest.

Tom Harrison House provides a specialist addiction recovery programme for UK Armed Forces veterans and emergency services personnel. Our bespoke 12-week residential programme is designed specifically for those who have served and who may struggle to engage with mainstream, civilian rehabilitation services.
