Over the Christmas period, our son Alex (7) will have to spend a minimum time of 6 weeks at the Manchester children's hospital. This is due to Alex having leukemia for a second time.
Last year Alex was diagnosed with Pre B Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, he went through an intense treatment for 7 months and then followed on to a maintenance period, in which we was told Alex was in the clear. Unfortunately Alex has now developed tumour cells inside his spinal fluid and needs a bone marrow transplant this time, which he will be getting from his little brother james (1 year old) over the christmas period. For this we must have the treatment at Manchester children's Hospital, even though its only up to an hours journey to get there, everything is adding up in costs e.g fuel, food ect. As a family we are going to spending all of the time there at the Ronald McDonald house. Alex will be in hospital for the full duration.
We are asking for help with our stay there, since he had relapsed beginning of August this year, we are finding it to be a financial strain.
We have set up a page on facebook called 'Alex's heroic battle', anyone can 'like' his page and follow his day to day journey.
