Story

We're taking on a boxing challenge to help 2 amazing charities Zeal Cardiff & Freedom Heroes.

This year has been an incredibly challenging year for Dylan. His first year in high school saw him victim to regular physical, verbal and emotional bullying. It has been so hard to witness but watching Dylan cope with it has been a testimony to his character. Zeal Cardiff is a youth club that has equipped and supported Dylan at such a difficult time in his life, somewhere for him to to lean in to when it would have been all to easy to drop out. We want to ensure that Zeal continues to have the funds and resources to continue to support and bless any young persons who steps through their door and we hope you do too.

Freedom Heroes takes boys off the streets of Uganda and put them back into family. They provide food, medical care, education, and support to over 100 children and young people who are or have been living on the streets. As they are ready to come off the streets Freedom Heroes provides the opportunity for them to go onto higher education or to vocational training school to learn a trade. Where possible they look to reunite these street children with their families (close unit or wider). Unlike common assumption, most street children are not orphans. Poverty, displacement, loss and even the simplicity of getting lost in Kampala can mean that a child ends up on the street, separated from family, many whom fear their child is now gone forever. Freedom Heroes works with a team of social workers and counselors who help the child tell their story of how they came to their streets, and when appropriate they retrace their steps back to family members, and then they work with the family to reintegrate the child into their home.
