Story
Leasowes Walled Garden is part of the 18th Century Leasowes Grade 1 Listed Garden in Halesowen, which was the famous creation of the poet, William Shenstone. In 2014 the walled garden was up for sale to developers before it was purchased and rescued by the Halesowen Abbey Trust, which is a registered charity. We are restoring it and dedicating the site for public benefit. The restoration will be comprehensive and involve a beautiful garden; growing of vegetables; a heritage variety orchard; a wildlife meadow and pond; indigenous hedgerows and trees; and other enhancements for wildlife. It is an oasis for public enjoyment, relaxation and education. We need money for improvements, including the removal of 20th century concrete etc and the creation of access paths suitable for disabled people. We need to install electricity and improve the buildings for interpretation purposes and as meeting rooms. The potential is enormous. All money raised will be spent on the project.
