** UPDATE**
I completed the triathlon in 16 hours, 23 minutes and 45 seconds!
I haven't been too sore muscle wise, just battered and bruised from the wind blowing me off my bike! The weather was against us, wet and windy, but at least we weren't roasting alive in 35 degree heat!
Thank you all for your amazing generosity so far! I'm keeping the page open until the end of August if you would still like to contribute.
My wife suggested I get sponsorship and raise money for doing the Iron Man challenge. I thought this was a good idea but didn't want to do this for cancer research or the heart foundation - I wanted to do something more meaningful to me. Therefore I am raising money for a family affected by Chrons disease. The mother is very ill and has a number of additional health complications from the Chrons including insulin dependant diabetes as a result of the treatments she has had to endure including chemotherapy to try and bring this under control. She is unable to work, has 2 young children and struggles with day to day tasks. Her partner works and helps with looking after the children and caring for her. The children are great and very understanding as they are growing up with this. However, as a family they have a very limited income and opportunities to live a family life that most take for granted. I would love to be able to raise money for them to help improve things for them as a family.
