Story
In October 2016, 11 year old Mia was taken to hospital with stomach pains and weakness in her legs. A scan revealed a mass on her spine and within hours Mia underwent surgery to remove the mass.
Unfortunately, surgery revealed that the mass was in fact one of five cancerous tumours, two in her brain and three on her spine.
Surgeons worked for nine hours to remove part of the largest tumour, however it wasn't until Mia woke up that they learnt the full extent of her condition. Mia had lost the use of both her legs and feet, bladder and bowels.
A devastating diagnosis.
Mia is such a strong individual and will not give up without a fight. In less than a year she has beaten cancer, but is still left with the devastating after effects.
Mia still has to try and adapt to her new life as a wheelchair user. Unfortunately, such a life changing disability also comes with a financial cost.
Mia and her family need to move house, as their current house is not suitable and adaptations cannot be made to it. Mia currently has to sleep in the living room and has to have bed baths. She has no privacy.
Mia will also potentially need specialist equipment and care for the rest of her life.
Hopefully we can raise enough to help with essential house modifications to their future home.
Please help support Mia.
