On November 12th the team is tackling a half marathon (that's 13.1 miles!) in order to raise money for the school's exciting outdoor learning projects.

Midfield believes that learning shouldn't just take place in the classroom; to fully grown and learn children needs to get outside and get mucky! One way of doing this is through our Edible Eco Garden; an inspiring, multi sensory out door learning experience for all the children of Midfield; promoting education, understanding, passion and love for healthy, home-grown food and our environment. The garden supports children with Social Emotional and Behavioural difficulties and children with Special Educational Needs and encourages responsibility, independence and resilience.

Best of all it provides an Eco-environment links in with the entire school Curriculum - providing for Science, Art, Maths, Literacy, History and Personal Social Health Education (PSHE).

Through the garden we hope to initiate more cooking lessons in school while engaging the whole Midfield community - our children, their families and their extended families - in an initiative that will promote pride, involvement and an on-going commitment to the school.

As well as our garden the children at Midfield also have access to our Forest Schools programme, outdoor adventures and outdoor residentials; each proving unique and exciting learning opportunities you just can't get in the classroom!

Our outdoor learning projects are very ambitious though and despite help from lots of family, friends and supporters we need to make a big fund raising push to make it happen for the children - so please 'dig deep' and sponsor our running team to help us make our garden grow!
