I will be swimming a mile a day, that's 64 lengths of a normal pool, and I'll be swimming every day for a full year! It seems scary just writing it.. If I miss a day due to illness or pool closure, I have to catch up by swimming 2 miles the next day. It's a relentless challenge, and a significant one. I managed to successfully complete this challenge 3 years ago in support of cancer charities, so I know just how hard it is. This time I'm swimming for my close friend who lost her first baby just 3 weeks prior to giving birth. I can't imagine how traumatic this must be for her and her husband. To give birth to a baby that is no longer alive, for your body to produce milk with no use, and to have the wonderful anticipation of a new baby turn to despair and trauma. I can't take their pain or their grief, but I can swim for them, for their baby, and for other facing a similar situation. Please support me in raising funds for this amazing charity!
