Story
Following the loss of Lauren Ellis in October 2017 Lauren''s close family and friends have put enormous amounts of time and effort into setting up a charity in her name.
For those who were lucky enough to know or have met Lauren will know how much she enjoyed helping others. Lauren set up a Facebook group called Mental health In the Channel Islands which now has over 1.1k members, these members have a safe place to express their views and experiences of mental health in the Channel islands. Members can ask for non judgmental support and advice from the other members of the group and the group admins monitor posts and signpost those in need to agencies who can professionally help them.
Lauren Ellis LBG Charity statement
The charity has been set up in memory of Lauren Ellis who was 22 years old when she passed away on 12th October 2017. The topics of domestic abuse and mental health are where Laurens heart laid, so the charity aims are closely linked to helping and supporting people affected in Guernsey. This being by educating these topics in schools, workplaces and events. Offering support groups where we will be a person to listen to people's problems and support them at appointments. Creating programmes for both victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse from young children to adults and also being a McKenzie friend for court appearances. All with help from our new therapy dog "Lala"
Money raised from this page will go straight to helping Laurens charity purchase much needed resources that will help our local community, these resources will include domestic abuse and mental health awareness wristbands, information cards and posters and leaflets. All the money will be put back into helping those in the community affected by domestic abuse and mental health in a variety of ways.
All Lauren Ellis wanted was to make sure that others affected by these issues received the support they deserved, were listened to and never felt alone.
