I've raised £600 to help fund Heeley City Farm's South Yorkshire Energy Centre.

At Mina, we’re passionate about making a change and supporting positive development in our local community. It’s important to us that our future generations can thrive and in order to do this, we need to educate our children from a young age on what they can do to help save our planet. But how?
Introducing Heeley City Farm
After some research, we came across a local Sheffield based charity that not only support children by providing academic skills training sessions and introductions to growing their own fruit and veg, they also have an energy centre. The South Yorkshire Energy Centre has been delivering fuel poverty and energy efficiency advice to Sheffield households since 2002 and is the leading voluntary sector organisation in the city specialising in affordable warmth, sustainable living and carbon reduction. Find more about the great work they do here.
What we’re doing
To help children understand the importance of reducing climate change and how to become more sustainable, Mina is working with Heeley City Farm to run a ‘Green Bees Energy Trail’. Kids will be encouraged to go along a trail around the farm, which will include crafts around the theme of recycle, reuse and reduce with additional focuses on renewable energy sources and growing their own veg at home. Whilst the children are crafting, staff will have an energy conversation with the adults to promote their support and advice services available. The project will run on set weekends throughout the Autumn.
Our part to play
To get this project up and running, Mina is committed to donating £1 for each driver who signs up to Mina. We will also be using a Just Giving page to help raise extra funds so the South Yorkshire Energy Centre can help more people in other ways outside the project to reduce fuel poverty and carbon emissions in Sheffield.
Extending the reach for support
Clean energy education is key to reducing the impact of climate change which is why we’re excited to be working with Heeley City Farm. We’re confident that this initiative will benefit the local community and can’t wait to see the impact it will make on those attending.
This project will be solely paid for by the funds we raise. If you would like to donate to this cause, please donate via the link below. Any donation big or small will make an impact on helping to save our planet.
