I've raised £24000 to support CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and NHS Charities Together by running 5 marathons in 5 days around my 14ft patio.

Story

I received a phone call last week from CALM charity to inform me that there has been a 38% increase in life-saving phone calls made by people across Britain to CALM. People struggling deeply with mental illness and seeking help. Key health workers are being stretched to unprecedented levels, which has gradually taken its toll on their physical and mental wellbeing.

We may not have a cure, but we can find solutions to enable these individuals to feel supported and safe in testing times. I feel so grateful to know that my family is healthy, well, and in a safe environment. Something not everyone is lucky enough to have at this time.

As someone who has been affected in the past by mental illness, I can not imagine how tough this must be for so many people. The empathy I feel for every one of these individuals is what has inspired me to take on such a testing mental challenge.

Testing times do really bring out the best in people and can drive individuals and the collective to achieve extraordinary things. I feel so proud to have witnessed Captain Thomas Moore celebrate his 100th year by Walking 100 lengths of his Garden. Ed Jackson a man still in recovery with a life-changing spinal injury, climb the equivalent of Everest on his stairs. And Frank Mills a 6-year-old boy who has spinal bifida, walking with the aid of his frame, 10 meters a day. There is no better way for those who are struggling to feel valued, loved, and supported when gestures of support like these are done.

So every mile and marathon over the next five days, I do for you!

Thank you to all those that have donated, and supported a cause so close to my heart, and I am sure, close to many of yours as well.
